About us

After working in the finance sector in London for many years Leanne has retired from her career in Banking and pursued her personal interest in the fitness and wellbeing industry.

A qualified aerial hoop and pole dance instructor Leanne has experience of both teaching and being a student so has first had knowledge of the strain and pressure aerial can put your body under and the types of injuries aerialists often acquire. In fact it was after starting pole 10 years ago, and following many reoccurring shoulder injuries,  that she realised the benefit of regular sports massage in injury prevention.

Leanne has been an active person and keen sports enthusiast her whole life, competing at county level in swimming, rowing, netball, cross country and athletics, and rugby for south west England in her younger years. In adulthood she has ventured out into more extreme sport and is a keen mountaineer, climber, ice-climber and white water kayaker. She has been on remote expeditions all around the world including several world ‘first’ achievements in several areas.

In what remaining free time she has outside of aerial and adventure sports Leanne is a keen cross fitter, having started after lockdown and moving to Cheshire. It has been a great addition to her active lifestyle and another genre of injuries and body strain that she has enjoyed exploring, for better and for worse.

Sports Massage

Sports massage isn’t just for elite sportsmen and women, yet it is often misunderstood as a treatment modality because “I don’t do a sport”. Quite simply, sports massage can be beneficial to anyone regardless of athletic ability or exercise participation. So whether you are training for a race, visit the gym regularly, enjoy gardening, or have a desk-based job, a regular sports massage can help to keep your body and mind feeling great, and keep injuries at bay.

The benefits of sports massage:

  • Increased muscle blood flow
  • Raised muscle temperature
  • Increased lymph flow and the removal of toxins from the muscles
  • Breakdown of adhesions and scar tissue which builds up over time causing tension
  • Relieves muscular pain
  • Increased range of motion of joints (ROM) and flexibility
  • Physiological and psychological preparation for a race or event
  • A positive sense of wellbeing, relaxation and lowered stress levels.
  • Improved sleep patterns.

Western Medical Acupuncture

Western medical acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, single use, sterile needles through the skin and briefly left in position. It is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture and provides evidence-based pain relief and muscle relaxation by stimulating the nervous system using modern anatomical and physiological principles.  It is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal pain, including myofascial trigger point pain and here at the Rehab Room we use alongside sports massage therapy for an effective dual approach that accelerates muscle recovery, restores range of motion, and targets deep-seated pain more efficiently than either therapy alone.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a modern medical treatment where a clinician inserts thin, sterile needles directly into myofascial trigger points (known as knots) to relieve pain and improve movement.  It isolates the exact muscle causing a movement restriction or referral pain pattern to force it to mechanically reset through a dynamic approach. Acupuncture is more passive in its needle placement and focus on nerve pathways.
